What is the CAASPP?
CAASPP stands for California Assessment of Student Performance Progress, and houses all of the California State testing requirements. Students complete summative assessments in Math, English and Science using the tests issued from CAASPP. Please visit the CAASPP website for more information: http://www.caaspp.org/index.html.
What tests are taken?
Students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 11 take the Smarter Balanced (SBAC) English and Math tests.
Students in grades 5, 8 and 11 take the California Science Test (CAST). Students who do not complete the science test in 11th grade are required to take it in 12th grade.
How are tests taken?
All testing is done in person at a set testing location over a two day period. All tests are administered and completed on the computer. Students will complete each test on the computers provided by the school at each testing location. Students may not use their own computers.
Where are tests taken?
Tests are administered at various sites throughout California. Starting in March parents and students will be sent spring testing information, including a link to select their preferred testing location. Every effort is made to have enough testing sites close to all students with a manageable commute time. Look for that email with the testing calendar, dates and locations.

Is testing required?
Yes! Students must attend and complete all assigned tests as part of their Master Agreement signed upon enrollment.
How can I prepare for testing?
Teachers will cover test material during live sessions throughout the year. In addition students can take practice tests, attend CAASPP bootcamp in March, and use the resources available in the CAASPP Resource Folder (located in the Student Resource Folder). Students are encouraged to practice as much as possible so they know what to expect come the day of the test.
